Before you say no, I realize that there is tons of 80s and 90s covers and in that sense, that style of music isn't dead but you don't really hear anything nowadays with that sort of influence

Thoughts?

I think any good music evolves with time. But in the sense of making music today, that sounds like it was produced in the style of the scene back in the 80s/90s. I don't think you're going to find too much of that these days.

I agree with TW there. That sound would be incredibly rare to find these days. Does it mean that its dead? Absolutely not. Its still out there to be heard. As long as there's a vinyl and/or digital of the bands from the 80s and such as described in the OP, It will never die.
